Text: Nehemiah 13:1-31

Title: “Final Reforms”

Introduction: Of cats and mice

Theme: Walk circumspectly.

I. Supporting God’s Temple

A. Nehemiah found out that Israel had neglected God’s house.

B. God is His peoples’ priority! (Mal. 3:10-11).

II. Keeping the Sabbath

A. Nehemiah observed that Israel was not keeping the Sabbath

B. Set aside a time to worship and praise God (Isa. 56:2; Mk. 2:27-28).

III. Marrying Outside the Faith

A. Nehemiah rebuked Israel for marrying foreigners.

B. Believers marry believers! (2 Cor. 6:14; Ps. 119:11).

Conclusion: The danger of slipping back to one’s former life of sin is never far off. That’s something to keep in mind, as Nehemiah found out. To that end, walk circumspectly.
